green and wildwood












new green wool, green juice, my shabby green chair... green is a color i've been spending time with
lately. this cowl is circumnavigate, a new pattern by heidi kirrmaier. it called for malabrigo's
silky merino, something i had in my stash after winning this giveaway not long ago. when i saw the
pattern for circumnavigate one evening while on ravelry, i set my current project aside and cast on.  intending to start and then let it wait in my basket till later (the tea leaves is calling). but found i couldn't put it down. this pattern was completely totally addictive fun. i LOVED knitting it, and now love wearing it even more. the silky merino feels like cashmere, a truly gorgeous yarn. when my husband felt it, he smiled and asked 'where's mine?'  luckily heidi says ...'and is non-frilly enough to be worn by guys and gals alike.'

i managed not only to get a photo of my book this week, but finessed a photo of the book being
read, while wearing the knit. hee he. i LOVE this book wildwood, and want to always carry it around. it's a treasure without even opening it, the cover art is gorgeous, yet once inside it's even richer. makes me feel a girl again. the authors (a husband and wife collaboration, he also is a member of a favorite band ) call it a middle grade fantasy adventure series. if you click on the link above, you will be able to read the first four chapters. but this truly is a book you'll want to hold. and keep.

counting my blessings this week and wishing all a very happy thanksgiving. we'll be staying home,
with most of my kids coming here, except nyc , miss you hannah girl,   
mamas hold on to your babies now, they do grow up...

    I think I'd quite like to swap places with you Lori, I get such a good feeling of happiness when I read your blog, and look at your photographs. I'm a huge fan of the colour green too, and your green armchair is a treasure. Your studio is a treasure too. And your new cowl is beautiful!     I too, like Annie, feel so happy to have found you (via dear Vanessa). I know I shall be popping in to visit you regularly now for that fix of joy.

    It is funny how I have become more and more seduced by all shades of green as I grow up (hee, hee, I turned 43 yesterday) and the shade you chose for your divine cowl is one of my favourites. I have pledged with my little last treasure (two in January) to knit her something green every birthday.

    I really like the photographs of your studio with the colourful knitting needles. Your pictures betray a fabulous natural sense of colour.

    Your knitting,as always, is a blessing to behold and it is too bad that we can't touch that yarn. Feels like butter? Yes, I can just imagine. And that is an awesome pattern you used.

    You know, I almost bought that book while we were in Portland--at Powell's no less. I just loved the cover and when my hubs told me about the author and that he's from Portland too--I thought--cooool. But, alas, I left it there--didn't want to make my suitcase heavier than it already was. With your endorsement though, it's going on my list today.

    Your cowl is ahhhsome!! I love it!! And your shabby chic green chair--drool.

    I'm so thrilled with the book suggestion. The first peek at the cover pulled me in and your description sold me on it. Plus that little piece of trivia was very interesting!

    Girl, you've inspired me with that beautiful scarf. I wonder if I could handle the pattern? It is so pretty in green. And your book, too! I want to read it just so I can spot the cover lying around my house!

    Lori, I was just showing my husband this cowl (thinking I am going to knit it for a friend) and he exclaimed (after seeing your dog in your latest post) "Is she sitting on her dog?" I explained that you are sitting on a sheepskin. LOL
