photo by Dan Harding/pacificimages.biz flowers for gazing and smelling, flowers for photographing, flowers for pressing, can you ever get enough of flowers? i made these pressings for my daughters birthday on thursday. but she'll have to wait a few more weeks before they are ready to be framed. i got her her own flower press too. she'll be happy.

ReplyDeleteMy stuffs have finally been shipped out, yeay! That was a huge relief. I am able to enjoy the early blossoms around the neighbourhood now before flying back home next week.

the flower pictures are from various weeds and blossoms, ferns, gerber daisys, anything i can find. i wanted to press some from the desert but you aren't allowed to pick those flowers.

i think it would be perfect for you, it takes up no space if you already have books and only a small amount of table to play with your flowers once they are pressed and ready!

ReplyDeleteI missed you on my journey. It was a rough one, but amazing all the same. My photos aren't nearly as good as yours, but I'll try to get them up for you very soon. (I went rhino hunting with my camera and never caught one, but I did get a decent crocodile photo.)
I LOVE, LOVE, Love the LOVE picture ~ once you press the flowers do you just glue them onto the paper or do you paint them with a clear adhesive? I am curious on the process ~ maybe that could be a future post? I would love more details ! You are an artist on so many levels ! Celebrate!

thank you! i used a tiny, tiny paint brush with glue and tweezers to get the bits just right. they'll stay under a big stack of books for another month, after staying in the press for several weeks. then it can be framed. thats a good question about preserving though, i'll have to google it. i think anything other than a spray of some kind would be too much since these are so delicate.
