last summer i made a pi shawl, jared floods 'leaves of grass'. before it was even finished and off the needles there were dreams of another. although the knitting looks quite complicated, i assure you it is not.
(if you knit, would you like to make one too?)
this week a knit along is beginning, for 'leaves of grass' (i'm hoping you'll join)
here is the one i made a few months ago (you can do it!)
the knit along began on january first. melissa, of girls in sheeps clothing, hosting this kal says that everyone is welcome, there is still time to join. if you have had a desire to make a pi shawl...wouldn't it be fun to knit one together? ( i would love it if you did) and please believe me this one is very simple. there is something about a knit along to offer friendship, help and support if you need it. this shawl calls for approximately 1375 yards of fingering weight wool. although the last one i made was blanket size and made out of worsted. it took closer to 2000 yards. would you like to see where the leaves of grass shawl blanket i made ended up?

DeleteIt looks so lovely and those are such great pictures of you and your family. That is what makes handmade so special. I won't be joining though - I am such a slow coach :). I heard about continental knitting on another blog yesterday and I am going to try that to get my speed up!

Wow that is one amazing shawl! I'm currently knitting my very first circular shawl, but I have gone with the beaded Celestarium rather than scary lace ;)

ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful pattern Lori and you have me just about convinced to cast on too. I think I have four skeins of Lion Brands Fisherman's Wool in the studio I could use and my poncho can wait a little while so if I can get the cast on then I'm in! You didn't have to twist my arm too hard ;)

Lori, in my dreams I can knit like that. :) I have to be happy watching you knit, and seeing the results. It's almost like I did it, but it looks so much better! lol! And that last picture...well...it's very sweet and happy and full of youth. :) Sending hugs to you xox

ReplyDeleteI would love to join a knit along but by the time I get the yarn (i'd have to order it on line) you all would be well into yours. And despite your words of encouragement, I think it is a bit out of my league. But will definitely be following-along if not knitting along.
ReplyDeleteHmmm. I'll add this one to my list. But currently I'm in the middle of designing a shawl. It's been no end of nightmare (math + me = fight to the death). I have a whole new and infinite respect for pattern designers now.

hmmm. maybe. i don't know. it does seem a bit, well, complicated. lol but that is me talking myself out of a challenge again. i was just talking to my oldest daughter about taking challenges, not being like her mama who is scared to put herself out there. so maybe i should. of course it would mean buying more yarn... which i am always game for. lol

Hi Lori, I've just read your last Post and now after this one I'm feeling a bit teary (happy and sad). I totally get it. The worry over the parcel, the missing child for Christmas, the spa gift, the 4 kids with you for christmas, the arrival of the parcel, your heartfelt Christmas story, your broken heart, the shawl of love, this last photo here of this gorgeous happy couple.
