trees disappeared behind a curtain of fog. in the hundred year old building where i work, there is no heat or insulation. i was cold cold cold.
i searched my 'sounds of nature' app and found this: a fireplace!
as it got progressively darker and colder
i snuggled up with a cracklin fire in my lap. and felt much more cozy. it sounds so real! hahaha!
i finally cast on for a cashmere cowl ... HEAVEN. a sublime experiance... the yarn in my hands, like butter, and the pattern, just enough interest, easy enough to memorize, a soothing knit. it's a mock cable, super tiny and delicate...i'm knitting in slow motion so it won't end too soon. It'll be some time before i get my hands on a hank of pure cashmere again (it was a treat i bought last summer when i visited here). maybe it'll be a christmas gift, maybe not. the fireplace app doesn't really keep me warm.
;)

You are too cute. I love your app. lol! Now if they could turn your phone into a handwarmer, you would be all set. xoxo!! Pam
ReplyDeleteYou need a little heater by your feet! Love your spirit Lori, the app is darling, you are darling.
ReplyDeletexoxo
oh yes to pam's comment! i imagine the fire crackle is sufficient for your mind to think its way through at least the sensation part.
ReplyDeletepam made me think of those hand warmers you can buy at camping/outdoor stores. my friend clara gives me one almost every christmas, for reasons mostly unknown :)
that is tough, lori. it's hard to be cold like that. it's a good thing you have the warm love of so many lucky people, me included.
p.s. buy the handwarmers please if the temp doesn't break!

Brrr.....my California friend... the past two days have been c-c-o-o-l-l-d-d!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove that app.... I would be using it too.....(even if it really doesn't make one warm)....
Cashmere...isn't it the best!
I splurged (an out-of-work girl shoud not splurge)...on two cashmere hats this Autumn..... they are so soft and keep my head and ears warm....
I remember when and where you purchased that yarn... it will make a beautiful and warm gift....for the recepient!!!
It's time to start layering our clothes again! (Darn!)
WARM Hugs, dear Lori!
Love,
♥ Robin ♥
As a little girl I had a muff for my hands which I LOVED! I could snuggle my cold hands in and forgot my cold feet.
ReplyDeleteNow we have floor heating in the house which is the best invention ever. How can they dare leave you without any heater? Did you show your boss what you had to use for a substitute? Haha, really, Lori!!
Your fog looks terrible, but then - Rob-Bear said they already had
-40° C and on sunny afternoons only -18°. Up in Canada. Brrrrr.
love the iphone fireplace, so funny really. and I'd love to see your cashmere pattern - I have a hank of lovely soft cashmere and haven't found anything yet to do with it.
ReplyDeleteStay (fake) warm
Hahaha! Oh, that's awesome! And after a while, the iphone DOES get hot. Break out the mini marshmallows on a toothpick. :)
ReplyDeleteYay for soothing knitting! Is it raining where you are, too?
i'm back to say that cashmere must set your heart and hands ablaze. there must be some warmth just feeling it, right? :)
ReplyDeleteby the time you read this i am hoping things have warmed up. i will send you some hot air (sometimes my specialty!) if you need it.
love love lori,
kj
Oh, dear Lori, how cruel to stay in a place without heater !
ReplyDeleteI love your app idea for it´s so cute! Down here in Brazil, I think I´ll have to look for a really refreshing air conditioner on hubbie´s iphone...
Sending to you a little bit of warmth from this tropical country!
Happy Sunday!
Knit yourself a goos sweater dear so you can stay warm!
ReplyDeleteLove that little fireplace :)
And yes as pam says a handwarmer app :)
