:: forever and ever ::

hello dear friends, if anyone is out there still...thank you dearly for reading...so much catching up to do, my poor blog. but this happened last weekend!! 27 june, 2015 my youngest, my hannah rose, was married. she and matt came here, back home and said their vows at the salt marsh nature preserve, my middle son officiating, with family and closest friends in attendance. also, there were clouds and fog and wind and even a bit of rain fell. and then at dusk, a rainbow. i believe that all wanted to see the magic that was taking place. the LOVE. more photos coming soon. i hope you are all well!!

october

hello! how are you? i hope well! all is very good here, a bit of equipment complications, so more iphone photos. thank goodness for the phone! here a few things happening lately...

owl arrived, for a new sweater

loop & leaf, our local yarn store started carrying woolfolk, i think this beautiful fiber would like to be a shawl

early one morning, a couple hours up the coast

my husband and his friend had a new adventure

i was the driver. after dropping them off, they paddled home...

everything went very well, except for one small incident a couple days later, which necessitated (me) driving again, this time on a loooong rural road, at night, in the pitch dark. i was a little unnerved, until i saw this sign  :)

(lerwick, shetland islands, photo by kathy cadigan)

in celebration of wool week, ashley yousling of Woolful invited kathy cadigan and i to her blog. if you'd like to see gorgeous shetland photos by kathy visit Woolful here.

i made a halloween costume for a friends new baby. a wee caterpillar  :)

and another diaper cover, this one for my new (grand)baby.

i made a pair of socks. these were knit with sport weight, extraordinarily soft, organic merino wool.
raverly notes here

i made another pair of socks

these with the prettiest hand dyed fingering weight wool (raverly notes)

east coast | west coast met and families become fast friends (my girl was here for a week!)

in a nutshell

helloo and oh dear. i hope all is well with you!  i've been very neglectful of this space. i'm dreaming of a week at home, no work, or travel...just quietly staying home and catching up on the big and little things. that is unlikely to happen before october (today is already the first day of fall!) a bit of life here lately then, in a nutshell (all photos taken with iphone)...

knitting for babies! i found this pattern for a soaker in a vintage book. i love making them!

'go to work with your husband day' every chance i get! the weather is perfect this time of year! we are at channel islands national park.

my best friend and i went to the california central coast yarn crawl. it was a two day event so we stayed in a hotel saturday night. her sweet husband packed us a picnic dinner.

in the hotel we ate delicious tapas, drank delicious wine and knit socks! (and took photos of them on the way home) ;)

the next day i flew to nyc with a friend

we met my girl at grand central station

jumped on a train to connecticut...

rented a car in new haven and drove north to...

portland maine! met friends carrie bostick hoge, maryjane mucklestone, gudrun johnston. carrie, gudrun and i also had our girls, immie and maya and hannah (taking the photo, darn!)

there was a photo shoot on the maine coast

foxy was left in good hands, and we headed back south to nyc...

where in a small square in tribeca a few things happened... saw my darling son and son in law at their work, and across the street, my girl and i had an appointment in a shop...

for her wedding dress. (this is not it if you are reading matt.)  :)   there was just enough time to see 'the dress' (tears. oh my.) before i had to catch a cab back to jfk.

back at home, souvenirs from maine. carrie's book is gold. taproot is too. found seaglass on a maine beach. the daisy a gift from my future son in law. :)

then the phone call came. i won the grand prize from the central coast yarn crawl. EEP!!

oh. my. gosh. this basket, filled to the brim. THANK YOU central coast yarn crawl and all sponsors: lantern moon, addi, rowan, plymouth, berroco, classic elite, never not knitting, knitbot, misti alpaca, zealana, frog tree, jojoland, swans island, anzula, manos del uruguay, mountain colors, lothlorian made in new zealand gloves and leisure arts ~ encyclopedia of needlework.

GOLDEN

life at the moment. i have to remind myself to breath. sometimes so much is going on it's a challenge to know where to start, how to share. keep up my journal here. i may sound calm, but i am filled with exclamation points. oh dear here they come, those marks that illustrate everything these days, and a few photos too...

a baby swallow! i feel like this too little bird, sing your heart out!

my best friend went to greece and turkey, she and her husband had a brilliant time (we still need to get together, drink wine, see the photos!). they brought me many gifts, including this from istanbul. this hand stitched, cashmere shawl. exclamation point!!

it was my lucky day! here is a new perfect size cross body bag for my trip that i managed to get....

and some pouches from bookhou too, perfect for carrying watercolor pencils in my suitcase. the wool is going to be my travel knit (i think). reading 'how to catch a frog' by heather ross. lovely lovely book.

i grew a strawberry (s) and finally got to eat one before the raccoons did!!

stitching in progress for my travel journal (to shetland!!) ( nineteen more days!!!)

to celebrate summer solstice, i made a flower wreath...

for my head :)  i tried to have owen model it, but that was as likely to happen as if he were to make it. ;)

here come the exclamations. to celebrate the first little movements OF OUR NEW BABY!!! i've cast on a kicking bag. this is my girl on the left in her middle trimester and in the photo on the right, she's four years old. will it ever stop being a complete and total miracle, when your baby has a baby??!!!!!

and then, friends...remember this child of mine? my baby? hannah rose?

last week in kentucky. here, because they are so darling, is a reenactment. he proposed. she said yes.
my baby is getting married. !!!!!!

~ before i end this post i wanted to say thank you so much for the kindness (as always) on my bressay dress. i am really thrilled with it, it's really so amazing to wear a dress you've knitted. if you've ever had a mind to make one i would encourage you to give this pattern a try. and the very last thing, i am completely honored and thrilled to have been featured on fringe association. thank you karen. whew. (!!!) :)
happy 4th.
