this week : :
: : another roll of film was developed, it's like christmas waiting for it , forgetting all that was taken.
: : more knitting doll photos at the beach with our grandson ( loving little wetsuits, it seems like yesterday it was my own boys in them), slow progress has been made on the chair pad.
: : a day trip to cambria with a friend, to visit this gallery, and see this artists work.
: : and a splurge on one small platter for me, and a big splurge by my friend, she bought several pieces.
: : a few vintage store finds, these sweet strawberries and three new (old) books i forgot to photo.
: : we celebrated my sweet sisters birthday :)
: : chuck has two more magazine covers, oh his photos! forgot to take pics of those too. so proud of him.
: : i won a give~a~way, lovely wool and a pattern. thank you plucky knitter!
: : and we found dresses for my daughter's wedding! she found her's, and this one is mine. and that is just about the most exciting thing. it happened for my girl the way i'd hoped. she fell in love with hers. she cried, i cried. wedding planning is so much fun. except for the not so fun part of missing my youngest girl who lives across the country, and wanting her to be involved too. i'm missing my sons, but they don't care too very much (not at all) about wedding planning. so we are doing our best to stay connected with, emails, links, photos and phone calls. i'm sure that some sort of hand knit cover up is next in the plans.
Oh, Lori! Your dress is lovely!! It sounds like you all are having just a fairytale time in the planning!!! So happy for you!
ReplyDeleteHow could you resist that snail????? Although, you scored big with the plate, books, and strawberries!! Fun time!
i LOVE your mother-of-the-bride's dress (not least because it's a very similar style to my actual wedding dress back in 2005!)
ReplyDeleteLori, It is all so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI lived in Cambria for 6 months about 14 years ago.
Congrats on the dress!
xoxo
Dear Lori,
ReplyDeleteYour photos, as always are wonderful! The cat in your photo looks just like our Charlie, is he yours? Your dress is elegant and beautiful. Happy birthday to your dear sister and congratulations to Chuck, how exciting!
Love
Linda
Hi Linda! This cat was the shop owners in a beautiful garden center in Cambria!
DeleteOh, my, that dress is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh Lori,
ReplyDeleteSo much beauty. That snail is amazing: the merry symphony of colours are making me drool (not really; don't worry!). Those little strawberries. I'm not sure if William Morris would find them beautiful AND useful but who cares? They are so adorable. J. Whitmore ceramics? I love them. However, of course, those wedding dresses take the biscuit. Such beautiful shades.
Oh goodness; I need to find some more synonyms for pretty and beautiful when I come to your space.
Have a great week.
Beautiful!! Beautiful dress, beautiful strawberries, beautiful yarn, beautiful photos. You've brightened my damp dismal UK Monday morning Lori, thank you
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. You surround yourself with so much beautiful and wonderfulness. Or maybe you just notice it and remember to point the camera. Either way - a very happy place you live.
ReplyDeleteDearest Lori,
ReplyDeleteSo many wonderful things happening all at once...
plates, yarn, books, Chuck, your sister, your
grandson, knitting all so
very, very wonderful, but that dress....
I don't think I have the words to descibe just how
beautiful it is! I can't wait to see it on and
I hope you have Chuck take a few dozen pictures at least.
I think you found the perfect dress to wear!
Much love and wishing you a Monday that
brings nothing but joy!
Dear Lori, I love your dress, it´s so lovely!
ReplyDeleteAnd all these pictures bring smile on my face, I love the strawberries so much! Congratulations to Chuck, again!
with much love from your friend,
Mina
Ah, Lori, it's a beautiful life, isn't it? I think my favorite picture is the one of you sitting next to your grandson. That one tugged at my heart strings. So many happy things happening there! I am glad. You deserve them, and many more! xox!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Pam, it's mine too. :)
DeleteWhat a wonderful weekend you have all had. Your dress is gorgeous. I look forward to seeing the photos of you all at the wedding.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had a wonderful week Lori-ann and that dress is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteHope this week is just as good...
Deb
I love that opening photo (well, all of the photos actually). And that you're dolly knitting at the beach with your surfing grandson. And your dress is STUNNING - wonderfully reminiscent of the 1920s.
ReplyDeleteYou are just the most beautiful Grandma, Lori. Your dress is simply stunning. Sending lots of love at this wonderful time for you. xxx
ReplyDeleteYour week is stuffed with goodness! Congrats on finding the dresses. The rest should be down hill right? Lucky you winning some yarn, I wonder what you'll make with it? Love the sweater you are wearing on the beach!!
ReplyDeleteIt came with a veera pattern, one of the stripe ones, I can't remember the name right now, but it's very pretty!
Deleteas a result of your post my DS started using the knitting doll too, he says it's so relaxing...
ReplyDeleteLove the photo's, it must be exciting to plan a wedding with your youngest daughter. I can't imagine how it is with your kids far away, we live in such a small country. Both my daughters who aren't in our home any more, live at about 60 km, so within reach.
You are lucky, my girl lives over 5000 miles away! Thank you for telling me about the knitting doll!
Deletewhat a rich week, thank you for sharing! I think I need a knitting doll! And i LOVE your dress, congratulations to mama and daughter!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful dress! And I'm loving that i-cord trailing in the sand. (:
ReplyDeleteBeautiful re-cap of your week Lori!
ReplyDeleteLove the dress you chose for your daughter's Wedding ♥
Happy Birthday Wishes to your sister.
Your home is fun of such whimsy and love. The cat looks so comfy. That dress is beautiful. It is hard to keep everyone connected, but technology can help so much. My sister was able to "be" at my last birth through skype! Love that yarn.
ReplyDeleteOMG Lori your dress is beautiful and so perfect for you. We had so much fun in Cambria didn't we! Am loving the pottery pieces I purchased - really splurged but it was worth it. Maybe SLO next!
ReplyDeleteThat is a really lovely dress.
ReplyDeleteLori this post just eeks happiness and good times. all kinds of textures and moods here with the gorgeous dress, the beach and I do feel so grateful for that group picture of pottery, I meant to do that but forgot my camera.
ReplyDeleteThat cake looks home made. The best kind of homemade.

Lori - you are truly enjoying your "vintage" film camera, aren't you? I love film as well although I don't shoot it anymore. There is a quality not unlike listening to vinyl vs perfected digital recordings. Love your captures girl!
ReplyDeleteTHAT DRESS!!
ReplyDeleteNow I can hardly wait to see the Bride's!
I'm remembering with joy when my own daughter and I were wedding planning.
Just the best of times!
Your Grandson has gotten his beauty from you, me thinks!

Beautiful 'mother of the bride' dress, I think a hand knit cover up will be just perfect with it. Can't wait to see the bride, I'm sure you will take some beautiful pictures of the big day!
ReplyDeleteI was so busy following all your links yesterday, I didn't get round to leaving you a message to say how beautiful is that dress! Your excitement reaches through the computer, I just know it's going to be a heavenly beautiful day for you all. And I'm so pleased the bride found her hearts dress, wonderful. Vanessa xxxx

I love the little platter you bought. I had my eye on it :)
And your dress. Wow! Elegant, so you.
Congrats to Chuck! Maybe you can show the photos in another post. You're both so talented.
And I hope I make you feel better by telling you your daughter is 2,000 miles closer than you think. New York is just under 3,000 miles away :)

I have three daughters so I am following this whole wedding process with great interest! My oldest is 18 so we still have some time but it will be here before you know it. ReplyDeleteLori just beatiful pictures. I love seeing spending time with your grandson on the beach. The beach is my absolute favorite place. Your dress is beautiful. Congrats to your husband on his cover pictures! That must be so exciting. I am off to visit the Plucky Knitter.
ReplyDeleteNow that is some dress, Lori. Gorgeous! Subtle colors but with a statement. If your dress is like that, I can only imagine how pretty your daughter's dress is. Love the strawberries and time with your grandson - always a plus, I'm sure!
