the sun came out, how nice! hello!
drawn outside by chirps and tweets (and sun)
i saw one little sparrow
discover a newly made rain puddle
peeping around a leafy tree (which gratefully hid me)
bird bath!
peaceful wading
splash!
what's that?
a cat. a cat came out to warm in the sun.
going camping, hoping to find more birds, see you in a few days!
xxx lori

Don't you know that feels good? :) Our woods are full of birds, singing their hearts out. And now the frogs have joined in at night. Lovely! Have fun camping - xox
ReplyDeleteBelated Happy Birthdays to your children! Best celebrations with the family!
ReplyDeleteThank you for a lovely story with a sweet bird! x Teje
If you could tell that pretty little birdie ( a Spatz in German) that he or she was famous now! So cute to watch that bath and the joy in it! My camera is totally broken now, and that is such a shame when you come around such lovely sights! We have our cranes back and also wild geese, resting near the Gothen Lake where Paco and I enjoy to walk. But I can only tell you about them!
ReplyDeleteSoon you`ll hear different sounds at night (hippos and lions - have you read Miranda`s homesickness-post?), so enjoy your camping in California for now!
Love the words and the photos :) Have a fun trip!!!

ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time camping xo
Your photos are wonderful. Sweet sparrow and sparkling water. Just what I needed here in central Oregon where we are still seeing occasional snow flurries!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Debbie
Gorgeous photos! Enjoy your camping trip. :)
ReplyDeleteAmerican Sparrows are different to English Sparrows! How interesting! There is nothing more joyful than watching birds take a bath is there! It's sweet and comical and adorable, all rolled in to one, and they spill so much water, it's like a rain shower, I'm always amazed when I watch them in the bird bath in the garden. I've missed some beautiful posts on your blog whilst I've been away............ that beautiful shawl, made with the gorgeous Quince and Co yarn, that most delicious yarn, and the most exquisite colourway, I have that colourway, waiting to be knitted up. I so love your photos of the sea glass too, the way you arranged them on your return home is wonderful. So much wonder-fulness Lori! Thank you. Love Vanessa xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Lori, enjoy your trip and I´ll be right here waiting for your gorgeous photos like these on this post! I love the words you put on each photo!

Hi Lori,
ReplyDeletethat was a delightful tale thank you. Perhaps you could make it into a book to share with your family (those Grandbabies that haven't arrived yet ;) )
Have a lovely holiday
Sarah
Ooh, have fun camping :D Loving the birdie pics, was that the 400mm lens?
ReplyDeleteLori, your pictures are so very cute. So much pleasure out of a small scene like this. You should really consider Sarahs idea of getting that story printed as a little book. I would love it!
ReplyDeleteLove these! What a pretty sparrow - I haven't spotted any of those particular types around here. I wanted to tell you - my daughter gave an illustrated speech (complete with boards)on Macro Nature Photography as her subject. She placed 7th out of 25! Very exciting! She would love to take more photos of birds and such - just needs to find the time.
ReplyDeleteYou captured something so special, and the portraits of the little white crowned sparrow are amazing, so much personality. Full of the joy of spring.
