laptops have feelings too

My laptop is sick now :(
conversations with the computer technician decided that it must be sent away for a check~up. doesn't seem fair, it's barely one. is that old in computer years? so they sent me a box that i'm to package it up in and ship it off for at least three weeks. the box came two days ago and i've done my best to ignore it. but, i know that's only prolonging the obvious, she is not working properly. oh it's not really got a virus, it's a hardware issue.

So, it's not all sadness, we have a desktop here that belonged to the kids. i can still go on line. But it makes a pesky noise kind of like an airplane landing in the living room, so i'll have to read really fast (the loudness makes me very nervous!), and i'm pretty sure i won't be posting (unless i find earplugs and a lot of patience). It's going to be back to journaling, with books, pens, colored pencils and watercolors... and hand written letters... :) Well, maybe this won't be so bad after all, maybe this is an opportunity in disguise... :)

  4. It's a time to treasure art, Lori. If you lived closer, you could have borrowed my laptop.

  5. My laptop has been acting up lately too, but for now I am just ignoring it-it's been ill since I bought it but a new hard drive fixed it for a month or so. I am waiting till it's near death to send it away again. I do hope yours feels better soon though! Enjoy the pen and paper!

Sometimes I think when the computer breaks down and the internet wont load or blogger has gone insane...

    Go inside.

    Its ok.

    Go inside.

My love to you beloved friend,

  7. Maybe if we send you in, too, Lori, you`ll come back healed as well? I wish you both a quick recovery, whatever it takes. (Or how about sharing your ugly tea with your lappie?)
I have sent you a handwritten letter last week and write more next week! Let`s all return to the roots. And go inside.
It is thundering here and DARK outside, I`m a bit scared. See you later!

  9. Selfish thought: Oh no - what am I going to do with no Lori - even for a few weeks. Your blog is my all time favourite place to come and relax, to enjoy the beautiful photographs, to lap up your stories and generally just happily chill in your sweet, warm company.

Yes, Maitri is right...broken laptop means time to draw and read and get journals up to date...but most important of all is that you get better along with your laptop, dearest Lori.

You've inspired me now - I am going to write handwritten notes to all my bloggy friends, too. It's a lovely way to....well...cement the friendships with something really personal.

  10. Well said, Lori.

I'm sorry I won't be reading your posts for some time and it pains me to hear about the laptop, bit it's kind of comforting to know that I'll be getting a handwritten letter soon! :)
-I'm so lame, I can't do symbols, only sideways smileys...-

Big huge Italian hugs to you, my darling friend. I love how you put in few simple words what usually takes me 3 pages to express.

i wish we could all take a collective time out, a blogging hiatus, then there wouldn't be the feeling of missing out. i look at Zuri 700 times a day at least and think of you, already feeling over the top blessed by blogging and having had more than my share. as always, i thank you for your incredibly loving words.

  18. I am so sorry. I know how difficult it is to have any kind of issue with your laptop. I never relaized how important my laptop was until I needed have it repaired. But like you said, it may be an opportunity to enjoy other activities.

  19. Maybe it's the tonic you need to finally heal. I am assuming nothing has been resolved as yet. Getting away from all electronic devices was actually very therapeutic for a few days. But it is nice to be connected in some ways. Hope to see you and your laptop back in action soon.

  24. Dear Lori,

I hope they fix it soon but think that writing trumps typing any day.

Send me a letter anytime, I adore the lost art and am in need of inky notes on paper.

  26. Hasn't it been three weeks? Write on the desktop...miss your wonderful blog postings!
I have been thinking of you this week as I sent my youngest off to college. How did you get through with your youngest? After all your big kids? Isn't it suppose to get easier instead of harder?

  27. Hello,
I understand about computer issues. It seems like about a year into your ownership of a laptop things start to happen. Hope you get your laptop up and running soon. Go to my blog and post a comment on my recent posts. Tell me your thoughts! Have a great day.
