warm puppy
this is owen. he's my puppy. owen had a birthday, he's now two.
for his birthday he got two cookie bones from cafe luna (thanks kim for
turning him on to them), his favorite thing in the world almost ,except cheese.
and he got this new sweater. he really seems to love it, he jumped around for a
bit and did that rolling thing like he was trying to remove it. but then
i think he realized he wasn't cold anymore and he's been wearing it all morning.
i started with a pattern on ravelry, but quickly changed it up. if you have a
shivery puppy you'd like to warm, notes are here. next time i'm changing it even
more, knitting one long tube in the round with openings for his little puppy legs. please
forgive the wretched seaming here, that was the result of sleep knitting. i sleep knitted
my tea leaves too and ended up pulling out four inches, while sleepy also, which resulted
in a very large pile of tangly wool (using two balls at once.) i didn't have the heart
to take a photo of that. oh dear.
still reading and delighting in wildwood.
joining with ginny and all the yarnalongers here.

Oh my goodness Lori, he is just so adorable! Happy birthday to Owen. I have a little sweater for my Twinkie, but he isn't too thrilled to wear it. You know, maybe it's because it's store bought and not made with love like yours! Twinkie likes cheese too along with popcorn [we eat popcorn daily].
ReplyDeleteI hope your day is a beautiful one!
xx
He looks adorable. What a cute sweater and even cuter dog. So sorry about the tea leaves though.
ReplyDeleteHappy Barkday Owen♥
ReplyDeleteHe looks studly in his sweater
Adorable turtleneck! It's wonderful that you have a dog to dress up since your kids are grown.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous everything, as always! Beautiful sweater, dog, pictures, backgrounds, decorations....you are really quite talented! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteericaceae,
ReplyDeleteoh dear, thank you, it's been cold here and owen has been shivering. not really playing dress up. i do hope this helps him to be more comfortable.
I am glad Paco has his thick woolly fur, or now i would feel obliged to knitting him a coat, too, seeing how Owen loves to wear his! And how cute it makes him look!
ReplyDeleteBut when I see how my little new grandson is growing faster than I can knit, it would surely take me till springtime till I had it finished. Good Paco. We got the right dogs for our abilities, didn`t we? Happy 2nd birthday, Owen. Now you must think of something to share with Lori for Christmas. I`ll whisper suggestions into your ear, tehee!
wretched seams? all i see is a perfect fit.
ReplyDeleteadorable and snug and perfectly made. that is owen and that is his sweater.
love love

it looks fab! and your pup looks like a sweetie. my kids are trying to get me to knit sweaters for their guinea pigs but i'm pretending like i don't hear them ;-)
ReplyDeleteOnce again Lori, I love the grey and red : ) and your puppy is precious! Love to see what you are up to every week.
ReplyDeleteOwen is adorable! I sleep knitted last night too. Nice chunky wool though, so not too tangly but still...
ReplyDeleteHi dear Lori,
ReplyDeleteI have been so out of touch with everything. Seems like all I do is work on this book, which is really a small one, but so time consuming. Spend hours on the phone with my editor and then hours redoing. That is life though, like ripping out bad stitches.
Wanted to let you know that my beloved Maine neighbor and dear friend is moving to Carp. She is going to live in an old house by Esau's Restaurant (am I spelling that right?) I want you to meet her. I can't think of a more giving, loving, and wonderful person to connect you to.
Your photos, if possible, get more and more lovely and evocative...and doesn't Owen look handsome?
Lovingly,
Sharon
Owen is a doll baby! He looks very handsome in his new sweater! Frodo and Owen would get along great unless if there was cheese in the room then they would have to share :D
ReplyDeleteOWEN!!! haha so cool....or warm xx
ReplyDeleteLori, you've got one lucky dog! My aunt was just telling me that I should start knitting dog sweaters, presumably for her puppy :)
ReplyDeleteLove Owen! Love his sweater! Love the Hedgehog too!
ReplyDeleteLove, always,
♥ Robin ♥
What cutie! I love the stripes!
ReplyDeleteOwen, you lucky pup you, to have such a loving mommy who gives you so much. I hope i can be that kind of mommy to a pup one day :).
ReplyDeleteSleep knitting, huhaaahh! So that is what it's called...I know it well..
ordered Wildwood!! Yay!!
xoxo
oh my oh my! i love this little snuggle suit for owen and wonder if i could make one for my lola? she loves sweaters and fortunately has been getting some nice fleece ones sewn up by kristen. i just love knit sweaters on dogs. well done lori! happy birthday owen!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie!!! In a splendid stripey sweater. I shan't show the whippets, all five will be pestering me for knitwear ;D
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Owen!!! You look quite dashing in your new duds--and your little halo is on so nice and straight. (Freddy has been having a tad of trouble with his lately. Holiday excitement, I guess.)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, owen looks so sweet in his sweater! Wishing you & your family all the best.
ReplyDeleteSO cute!! Happy birthday Owen! (I like how all of his shots are action shots. But isn't that always the way with squirmy pups?)
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving and that life is treating you well. :)
Our Terrier Chip would love one of those :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, Lori...the sweater is darling! And I am in love with the red and white fabric on the weathered table, the toadstools and the hedgehog!
ReplyDeleteI have a real soft spot for dogs with "proper" names, ever since, as a teenager, my brother declared that he would one day have a dog called Andrew or Robert... still waiting for that to happen mind you! Owen looks very smart.
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness - that is just too adorable! he looks so cute and cuddley, and cozy warm.
ReplyDeleteI've sleep knitted also - isn't it silly? and it never comes out good. ah well
He's the cutest!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my, that is so cute!
ReplyDeleteI want! Owen is an adorable ham.
ReplyDeleteNow THIS just might get my middle daughter more excited about knitting!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Debbie
So cute! He looks very handsome in his sweater :)
ReplyDeleteHa! I love it! What a cutie! Oh I really want a doggy, just need to convince the other half! :) x
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable dog and sweater! I was just looking at patterns for my pup last night, I want her to be extra warm this winter in our new colder environment. I like the colour combo too.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Owen ~ you look adorable in your new sweater ♥
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Owen!!
ReplyDeleteHis sweater is too gorgeous Lori, I love it!!
Love
Linda
Lori, I have never been one for clothes on animals, but in this case I make an exception :-). Darling and Owen is too wonderful for words, Happy Birthday sweetie!
ReplyDeletexoxo
Owen looks happy in his new coat. Our Penny has a coat made of an old housecoat of mine, she doesn't mind it because it really does help keep her warm on these damp cool days. I hope you enjoy many more birthdays with little Owen.
ReplyDeleteOwen is a real character! I've never seen a dog wearing a sweater wearing a big smile too! What a little cutie! I've just been reading your blog posts I missed while I was away, and feeling in awe of your husband! That's a tough marathon, well done him for running it, you must be very proud of him. The Hawk story was exciting!
ReplyDeleteI was rather touched by the poetry of your leaves and the words, and hanging them on your tree, what a wonderful way to have your family near you. beautiful. Gorgeous photographs as well too.
Thank you Lori.

happy birthday little guy. he sure seems to like his new sweater (for some reason he reminds me of a little football player! hehe)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Puppy!
ReplyDeleteI just went out and bought two copies of Wildwood. For my niece and {maybe me}.... ;) Supposed to my Love's Nephew but I keep opening the cover...Another trip to the bookshop.
xo Lori.
Oh oh ohhhh ohhhwwwwen! Oh my goodness, look how smart and handsome you look in your new sweater! I love a guy in a turtleneck. :) Your sweater is fabulous! (Don't pay attention to her when she says the seaming is wretched. Nonsense.) Happy birthday, cutie! Here's wishing you many more cookie bones! Woof woof woof!
ReplyDeleteaww, that is so cute!! i really like the idea of tiger having something to keep him warm, but he has worked out where all the radiators in our house are and even has a fleece near one of them so he can curl up by it, although it is right in a door way, and he is always warm at night time because he has usually stolen half of my duvet and half of my pillows!! he does have a lovely black waterproof coat though for days when it is too miserable to otherwise go out.
ReplyDeleteHi Owen, Happy Birthday little one!
ReplyDeleteLori, it´s so cute, I love the colors you chose and he looks fantastic!
