I asked my daughter for suggestions, what would be helpful or needed in the care packages that I'd like to send her, while she's at school in NYC. Here is her (unedited by me) response. I think she really would like her bike.

in other news, THE SUN CAME OUT.
living under a blanket of fog for months,
made seeing the sun today
SO sweet.
i walked down to the beach after work
and felt like a person seeing for the first time,
shadows, sunlight glinting off the water, color.
i waved hello to the horizon
my husband is out there for three days
working.
if you look closely at the video, you might see them.
the islands he's on.
this day was like a care package for me :)
thank you so much for all your kind (super nice!) comments on my last post,
i so appreciate every single one. i think i'll have a shop update coming soon!
♥ lori
Happy wavings from one sunny beach to the other!! Our sea gulls are white, but the sand and the sea look much the same! Get your canoe out and turn this way! We can collect pink seashells here, and buy amber bracelets on the market. If you take your bicycle along, we can ride for miles along the promenade (yes, a bike is so USEFUL! Hannah is right!). But you could also borrow one from us.
ReplyDeleteMay the sun keep on shining for you now! Love from your second German friend
I can just see you walking on the beach, the sun glinting off the waves, the lovely sound of gulls and crashing water...oh boy - sounds wonderful.
ReplyDeleteBikes are very useful in NYC - I rode everywhere when I lived there (a million years ago)
Hi Lori,
ReplyDeleteWhat a spectacular shot ... it must be like balm for the soul living so close to the ocean and seeing the sun so low on the horizon. Funny little email from Hannah. What a cutie. Hope mama bear and baby bear are settling into the new dynamic. It must be difficult having her so far away, especially when the road gets rough. Thank goodness for Skype and telecommunications. Enjoy the sunshine!
Hooray for sunshine! It definitely does feel different.
ReplyDeleteHee,hee at Hannah....hmmm do you think she misses her bike? Why is she in NYC now?
♥xxoo♥
hahaha!! That Hannah is a hoot!
ReplyDeleteYou should buy her a bicycle ornament for Christmas ;)
I'm so glad the sun is out for you.
You are the sun to so many of us.
xo
Lo♥
Lori, Your Hannah is too wonderful :-). I love what Lo said, you ARE SUNSHINE to all of us who come to bask in your lovely light. Thank you for that bit of ocean, I miss it so.xoxo
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea from Studio Lolo ~ a bicycle ornament!
ReplyDeleteAs always, I love diving into your blog, discovering what's happening in your life ... you inspire!!!
Lori I can't believe that the sun took so long to shine in your corner. I sincerely hope that the fog has left for a long while as you deserve sunshine.
ReplyDeleteIs the fog damp? I suppose the garden might like it.
I love the little video, the light looks absolutely beautiful.
Have you taken this on your digital camera?
I think ours has that feature and now I'm thinking that I might try and give it a go too.
Love to you and may the sun keep on shining.
xx
ooops I forgot to say.... Hannah I'm wishing a bike for you ;)
ReplyDeleteI am so happy for your beautiful care package and thank you for sharing it with us in the video!!
ReplyDeleteSweet Hannah is one funny girl!!Gets it from her Momma!!Big Hugs,Cat
Hi Geli, waving back! i did see that our beaches are so similar, especially this one that i was on. our gulls are also white, these were immature ones, so we even have that in common too!
ReplyDeletethe sun was out again today (here to greet Amanda!) so your wish came true, thank you!

Mim,
the beach was wonderful, i've really missed it (which sounds strange since i live at it, but we coulden't even see the water for weeks sometimes.)
That's so cool you lived in NYC. Hannah will get her bike soon! and be riding around like you did!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lyn,
things are calming down (for my stressed heart now) and i'm relaxing. Hannahs confidence helps. And walks on the beach, you are right, it is always helpful and healing for me. It's always been this way. thank you for your sweet comment.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Natsy,
Hannah is funny and makes me laugh, even long distance,heehee.
She is at college, she's studying to be a writer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lolo,
♥
She wanted to bring her bicycle with her, she always rides it everywhere, only recently getting her licence to drive (she still prefers to bike). But it was too much when she first moved. I'll send her bike to her soon and hang an ornament on our tree in her honor! good idea!
Annie
♥ sweet friend, thank you. hannah will get her bike, who could resist an email like this?! i'm still giggling over it.
so glad you enjoyed going to the beach!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Helen,
thank you! I think she'll get both, she needs a bike to make her way around!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Robyn,
Hannah's bike will be on the way to her soon :) she really needs it!
this has been the coldest foggiest (worst) summer in history, yes it is damp, but i don't think too good for many of the native plants here that are used to a mediterranian climate (sun).
i did take this with the video feature on my little digital camera, it's fun to do. try it!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cat,
haha, hannahs gift to make me laugh is one of my favorite things. thank you sweetie!
Hahahahahaha! Would that be one super-tandem-bicycle?
ReplyDeleteOooh, I saw the wackiest bicycle in NYC. It was for 8 people, but they were not all in a line. They were seated in a clump, like a circle, so some people were peddling but going side ways while others were going backwards. Wildest thing!
Happy Sunshiney Weekend! It's supposed to get warm down here. :)
Lori, I think H wants a bicycle. . . .
ReplyDeletehahahahaha - reading your blog lately, I beginning to think I need a seaside break (hhmmmmmmmmmmmmm...)
:-)
You could just barely see the islands - but I saw one!
ReplyDeleteGuess you better pack up that bike. :-)
yep! I think she wants her bike. Dont forget the goldfish (is that the cracker kind or the in a fishbowl kind?)
ReplyDeletei'm not commenting very much because i am preoccupied but just so you know a day would never pass without me looking at a i-love-lori post.
ReplyDeleteand this one brings a wide smile.
♥
i'm back now. hello lori!
ReplyDeletedoes this mean you will ship hannah's bike to her? i can imagine what a difference having her bike will make for her.
you are a Good Mom.
thank you very much for the sounds of the surf. i miss that here, and summer in provincetown seems a while ago now. i love hearing the ocean: it's one of my favorite and most soothing things.
happy weekend, lori. tsupmwah!
Hi Lori, your daughter sure has a lively sense of humour, ha ha.
ReplyDeleteLove the pics here....and I sure miss the sea and walking on the beach, preferably of course with a lady and the moon just coming up.
You have a pleasant weekend and keep a song in your heart, best regards, Lee.
Hahaha, I love that!
