cover girls

i mean, cover girls and pups. hee hee. i took head shots of my daughter yesterday and owen wanted in too. after getting the required photos, we tried on and played with some beautiful linen scarves that are hand dyed and sewn by my friend karen. she had hoped for some feedback on these. my daughter and i both love them, the colors are gorgeous and the weights perfect for a california summer.

the top photo is a recent cover of chucks (well done honey!), i thought you might like to see. remember when we went to this beautiful place for photos?  the model is my daughter in love, braving the snow cold sierra mountain water. it's standup paddler magazine, the spring 2012 issue for any interested stand up paddling enthusiasts.

and the other astonishing photo (2nd down) is of my youngest who lives in nyc. she was passing by a silvery glass wall and the photographer asked her to swing her hair. only in manhattan.

the winner of the sea glass, necklace and abalone shells is jules of a crafty little nest! please email
me your address jules and i'll send these right off to you. thank you all for entering and sharing your stories of giving. i loved reading every one. and thank you also for the kindest words on my plains shawl post, they were deeply appreciated.

xxx lori (twenty two more days. :)

  2. oh your daughters, both bio and in love are so lovely. they seem so confident and happy, it's lovely to see.

I agree with steph, i'd be packing and dreaming of packing, and then unpacking and packing again.

I have a link to you in a rather tongue-in-cheek post tonight. Hee hee is right!!

  3. I'm so excited to see the magazine cover. It looks wonderful I'll have to stop in one of our local surf shops and look for the magazine. I'll make sure I point out to the shop owner that I kinda of sort of know who took this picture and I know the story about the day it was taken.

Please tell your friend Karen that the scarf is beautiful. We have some scarves that weight at the alpaca farm and I wish I could make them myself.

That is an awesome picture of your daughter flipping her hair. Love it.

    and owen....

i'm glad i've stopped by, lori

  21. Dear Lori...How happy I was to see you posted this morning, lingering over your lovely photos, and seeing you in your beautiful girls. And then, imagine my surprise when I saw that I won your give-away! Wow!!!!!! (I think I startled my children when I gleefully shouted that I won). I never ever win anything. Once I won a contest on the radio when I was eight guessing how many curls Shirley Temple had...the answer is 54. But this is so special...I am so happy. And now I am gushing. I'm off to email you...thank you for bringing a house full of smiles and happiness to us this morning!
    xo Jules

  22. Lori ~ I am so happy you are doing the cardi too! I have been investigating the tea leaves projects on ravelry and my main concern is the size..some say it came out bigger than expected. I am not large but I am not xsmall either so I thought of knitting the size 36"...? might I ask what you size you have chosen? Does one choose a size smaller or bigger than they are? The wool I have chosen is an aran weight (to be honest I don't even know what that is..)thin or thick:) I really do have to get with it..I have chosen dark and light chocolate browns. Can just see it paired with some faded blue denims and brown boots~ Excited..

    Thanks Lori

  33. Yay Chuck! And daughter in love too, for braving the cold. A family of troopers, I say.
Those scarves are wonderful. I never leave the house without wrapping a scarf from the full peg rack by the door, and I'd love to have one of those haning there when her shop is opened.
The girls (and Owen) are all beauties!
