days off

this week (all photos made by iphone) :
received roses from dear daughter!
visited some of the world's largest sand dunes, afterwards had a delicious meal (some of us played with breadsticks). saw hot pink sunsets at the end of the work day (run run run to the beach) shopped in town, christmas is coming! and hiked a new trail that recently opened in the mountains behind our town. knit two hats, one a cabled bulky wool, the other lace weight mink, held double (really! they comb it, no animals were harmed) both hats were popped on happy heads and no photos were taken (why does this seem to happen with hats?) thanksgiving is several days away, but there is much to be thankful for right (this minute) now.

p.s. i've been tracking the box of wool i ordered for the favorite things scarf and see that it's been at our local post office for a day, maybe tomorrow it will be here! i'm so looking forward to knitting this :)
i hope you have a wonderful weekend dear friends, do you have any fun plans? xxxxxxxx lori

  1. What a pretty post, so light and happy and great colours. Glad the anniversary celebrations are going so well and that you and Chuck are enjoying your days off together. I love the Christmas decorations, I can't wait to start putting ours up.

We had plans for a fun weekend in London but had to cancel...but I think it's going to be a good one it started with my husband giving me a lovely green orchid when I woke up this morning. I've no idea where he'd been hiding it. It's my birthday today the sun's coming up. It looks like it's going to a very good one...hope yours is too lori.

  4. Dear Lori,

Have you ever considered writing a book? Your sense of colour and composition is just amazing. I love your beautiful roses on that adorable mat. And, are those Kelly Rae designs I see in that decorations photo? She's a pretty awe-inspiring lady too!

Happy, happy weekend to you, Lori.

  9. Lori, thank you for sharing your colorful, joyous week with us. I love those tall shadows on the tall dunes!

I brought home a beautiful white cyclamen from yesterday's farmers market visit, and hope it's going to inspire my design for this year's Christmas cards. So much fun being creative at this time of year...I need to stretch out my days like your long tall shadows.

  10. So lovely. World's largest sand dunes - wow! And as a side note, I sometimes enjoy taking photos with my kids' iPods (I myself have no i-devices whatsoever). So light and carefree. And that is what you've captured here - a glowing celebration of life.

  17. Hats always like to get away before pictures! It looks so beautiful where you live. We are supposed to come out your way to visit an alpaca farm (maybe in a few years). Of course I am sure the farm is no where close to you, but well if we are on that side of the country....
